If you are looking for a dynamic and pioneering career in one of the most stable banks in the world, the leap program is the right program for you! leap is BBVA Compass Bank’s innovative year-long training program that recruits top talent from universities across the country.
Learning, Evaluation, Application, Placement
Through extensive exposure to Wealth and Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Risk Management and other support areas, participants get a thorough overview of the bank as a whole. This broad perspective, along with extensive job preparation and skills training, assists participants in becoming potential future leaders of BBVA Compass.
Learning. Through our in-depth orientation, you will be introduced to the company culture and have the opportunity to learn and gain experience from some of BBVA Compass’ top executives. You will be exposed to all areas of the bank through overviews of the lines of business and support areas. During this period you will hone your technical skills by attending training sessions, participating in group projects and e-learning courses, and completing a CBA-led banking simulation. To further develop your communication and presentation skills, all participants will complete The Dale Carnegie Course® and Dale Carnegie High Impact Presentations®.
Evaluation. The line of business and support area professionals have identified the business and technical skills needed to be successful in their respective departments. Based on the skills needed, we have classified the departments into three functional tracks for focused training: Client Relations, Financial/Analysis, and Project Management. Throughout the orientation period, you will be assessed on your skill set to determine the track that is the best fit for your individual abilities.
Application. Once placed on a functional track, you will complete job rotations through several different departments that have been classified into that track. You will spend several weeks with each department to gain hands-on experience, apply what you have learned from the program, and see how your skills may apply to different areas across the bank. Rotations will provide participants with real-world work and may also include job shadowing, attending meetings, and assisting with several projects.
Placement. The program has been very successful in placing participants into jobs following the completion of the program. Placement is not guaranteed. However, at the conclusion of the program, the bank will work with you for a set period of time to determine if there is a suitable placement for you considering your skills and abilities and available job vacancies. Over the past two years, 97% of participants that complete the program have been offered placements.
At the conclusion of the program, targeted areas for first assignments may include:
- Commercial Banking
- Wealth Management
- Internal Audit
- Corporate Finance
- Human Resources
- Technology and Support Services
- Business Development & Shared Services
Placement will depend on open positions and is subject to applicable company policies. Open positions can be expected to be in AL, TX, CA, FL, AZ, NM, or CO. Therefore, participants are encouraged to be geographically mobile as location preferences may not be taken into account.
