E-News Bulletin September 29 2014

With the addition of each job-seeker and employer into our Career Network comes fresh ideas and opportunities. As a result, we're continually improving. Our ultimate quest is to connect candidates with employers, and vice versa. Enjoy this week's E-News Bulletin.

Career Capital alerts employers of career interest

Employers use the Greek Ladders Career Network to get connected to top talent. These are candidates who are heavily interested and engaged in their career planning. The return on their investment is found not just through the initial hire but, even more importantly, through the eventual success of their interns and full-time employees.

We've developed a system to track the interest of job and internship prospects. Every time candidates utilize the Career Network to attend career functions, build profiles, share through social media, and apply for jobs, they earn points...aka credits. Basically, with every action a candidate takes with his or her career planning, points are earned. The point system is featured in the graphic.

The Career Capital system gives candidates an exceptional opportunity to be highlighted to prospective employers.

Career Fair best practices

Career fairs present ideal opportunities for both students and employers. For students, having dozens of employers essentially come to them is a golden chance to make great connections. For employers, they're given a chance to meet and screen candidates for possible internships and post-graduate jobs.

Here are eight best practices for students to consider as they prepare for career fairs on their campuses.

  1. Bring a resume
  2. Dress appropriately
  3. Clean your online brand
  4. Conduct research
  5. Don't window shop
  6. Ask questions
  7. Collect business cards
  8. Follow up

Follow these eight best practices and you'll be leaps ahead of fellow students on the career launch path.

Click here for descriptions of each best practice.
