Eddie Francis boasts a combined 30-plus years' experience in mass media and careers. His career development experience includes serving as the Louisiana area manager for Monster Worldwide where he worked in the Making It Count Programs division. There, he delivered over 1,250 presentations to over a quarter of a million high school and college students in 28 states about educational and career success. A member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Eddie credits his Greek life experiences for his love for career development as well as his career success. In college, he served as his fraternity's chapter president, vice president of the Interfraternity Council, and he earned the Spirit of Loyola Award for Racial Understanding. Using the lens of career development, he speaks to members of historically African American fraternities and sororities about leadership development. Because of his efforts to help his fellow Black Greeks bridge the gap between college and their careers, the HBCU Career Center included Eddie's among their 2015 "25 Twitter Pages Diverse Students Should Follow".
The springboard for Eddie's career was mass media. He enjoyed a 19-year career in radio where he won a 2011 Press Club of New Orleans award for his interview with a Rwandan genocide survivor. Eddie also tackled public relations where made his mark as the architect of a campaign to defeat a State of Louisiana proposal to merge Southern University at New Orleans with a neighboring institution. Now, he can be heard providing insights about higher education PR on “The HBCU Nation Radio Show" (WRVS-FM and SiriusXM 142). He is also a monthly contributor on the award-winning "Sunday Journal" (WYLD-FM) sharing insights about jobs and career development. An avid blogger, Eddie publishes "From Lectures to Livelihood" and "P.R. and Marketing in Higher Ed". He has also written for The Ladders, LinkedIn, The H.O.P.E. Scholarship, Social-Hire.com, Careers in Government, and Write to Bear Alms.
