Vaccine Storage & Handling Coordinator (Program Officer I)
This is a full-time contract position located in Las Vegas with the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health’s Immunization Program. This position is grant funded through the end of 2015 with a strong possibility of renewal for the 2016 calendar year. Must have a reliable mode of personal transportation – local travel is a requirement of this position.
- Monday – Friday; 8am – 5pm
- 40 hours per week
- Approximately $18 – $21 per hour
The Nevada State Immunization Program is dedicated to improving and assisting with vaccine storage and handling at the provider level. The Vaccine Storage & Handling Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical assistance to Nevada’s Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program Providers and for monitoring their compliance to VFC Storage and Handling Protocol. Additional duties include data logger installation and training for newly enrolled VFC Providers in Las Vegas. “Data loggers” are continuous temperature monitoring devices that help offices store vaccines appropriately at all times.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR Graduation from high school, or the equivalent, and four years of previous experience either performing or assessing in the planning, coordinating, or administering of a program; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (required at time of application)
Ability to use a computer effectively to input, retrieve, and manipulate data. Ability to write reports and correspondence effectively. Ability to effectively interact with people including communication; bilingual Spanish preferred but not required. Ability to write policies and procedures.
- Become a data logger subject matter expert
- Train providers on vaccine storage and handling equipment and software
- Ensure providers are using equipment correctly
- Monitor provider data submissions
- Review and approve new vaccine storage units
- Conduct Unannounced Storage & Handling Site Visits
- Travel required
- Other duties as assigned
